
Sowjanya Kanna, MD

Dr. Sowjanya Kanna earned her medical degree from Kurnool Medical College, India. She was an internal medicine – pediatrics resident and spent a year as a Chief resident at Case Western Reserve University She completed Gastroenterology and Hepatology training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. Dr Kanna is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. She formerly served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in affiliation with Drexel University and Associate Research Lead, Fellowship research in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Allegheny General Hospital. Dr. Kanna’s research interests include colorectal cancer screening, hepatic encephalopathy, Gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel disease and Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Dr. Kanna has conducted original research in these areas, including participation in a National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored Gastroparesis study and has been well published in several peer reviewed journals. She has served as chair for the Clinical Vignette Abstract Review Committees for ACG 2019 and is currently a member of American College of Gastroenterology and New York Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American Gastroenterology Association.
Andrew S. Korman, MD

Dr. Korman, a native of New Jersey, received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his internal medicine training at Beth Israel Medical center where he served as chief medical resident. He then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Beth Israel followed by a dedicated year of training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy with David Carr-Locke, MD. His research interests include pancreatic and biliary diseases. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and New York Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Pitchumoni, is a professor at Rutgers University School of Medicine and adjunct professor of medicine at New York Medical College. He is program director of the Saint Peter’s Gastroenterology Fellowship Program of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is a senior gastroenterologist with more than 40 years of clinical and research experience in a wide array of areas of gastroenterology, nutrition, and liver disease. He is internationally known and respected for his contributions to the body of knowledge, particularly in the field of pancreatic diseases. He sees patients at the Center for Ambulatory Resources (CARES) in New Brunswick and at the Saint Peter’s University Hospital’s Family Health Center in New Brunswick.
