PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program

The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Saint Peter’s University Hospital is designed to provide a broad exposure to patient care in a goal-oriented, interactive teaching environment. Experience and knowledge are developed through rotations with highly skilled mentors dedicated to patient care and education. Residents will have the opportunity to participate in clinical, managerial, and operational pharmacy services. Flexibility allows residents to tailor their rotations to meet their individual interests and career goals. In addition to rotations, residents will complete a major project designed to improve pharmaceutical care within the institution as well as participate in medication use evaluations and multidisciplinary committees.

Teaching experience is gained as residents serve as co-preceptors for pharmacy students, and provide continuing education for pharmacists and other healthcare team members. Residents interested in strengthening their skills for presenting lectures and precepting students may enroll in a teaching certificate program taught by the Rutgers University Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. Upon completion of this program, residents will be prepared for clinical positions in an acute care setting or for pursuing further specialized training in a PGY2 residency program.
